ANPP: Controversy Trails Dissolution of Party Executives
The All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) leadership in Kaduna South Local Government Area is currently faced with controversy following the dissolution of the party executives by the central working committee (CWC) of the party in Kaduna state. A member representing Kaduna south federal constituency in the House of Representives, Engineer Mustapha Muhammed disclosed to newsmen at the party secretariat in Kaduna that the dissolution was done in accordance with the party constitution.

According to him, the dissolution of the executives was done in good faith, stressing that the essence is to investigate the reason why the local government lost in the 2007 local government election. Engineer Mustapha Muhammed also called on party members in the area to come together to work for the success of the party.

According to feelers, the controversy was as a result of the refusal of the suspended executives to vacate their respective offices and give way to the newly constituted care-taker committee at the party's secretariat in Tudun-Wada, Kaduna during the swearing-in ceremony of the caretaker committee.

However, the embattled party chairman Alhaji Danladi Ibrahim Hukuma has described the dissolution as "undemocratic and unconstitutional" noting that due process was not followed in the dissolution of the party executives. His words: "If you can recall, at the beginning of this year, the central working committee of ANPP in Kaduna state dissolved its party executives in Kaduna south local government with Husseini Zubairu as caretaker chairman," he concluded.


Yoruba Forum Honours Gov's Wife
The wife of Kaduna state Governor, Hajia Amina Sambo has promised to partner with a "Yoruba Women Forum" in its quest to improve the lots of women and youths in the society. The 'Irepodum women Forum' in conjunction with the Northern Yoruba Awareness Forum was at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House to give an award of excellence to the Governor's wife in recognition of her immense contributions to the alleviation of the lots of women and youths in the state. According to Hajia Sambo, judging the forum from the calibre of its membership and laudable programmes, the organization was a dynamic one.

"From the calibre of people in this organization, I believe you intend to do good for yourselves and the entire society" she said. Hajia Amina, who pledged to assist members of the forum to succeed in whatever they were doing, especially the seminar on women awareness being proposed by the organization also recounted the achievements of her pet project, 'I Care Women and Youth Initiative' in the areas of youth development and empowerment.

She further expressed profound appreciation to the Forum for the award given to her, which she said would ginger her to do more for the society. In his speech, the two group leaders, Alhaji Garba Yahaya commended Hajia Amina Sambo for taking youths in the state as her own children irrespective of their tribes, sex or level of education and also lauded her for her effort in women and youth empowerment through her pet project.

Alhaji Yahaya said that a seminar to dole out awards to women who have distinguished themselves in various human endeavours was being planned by the forum and praised the administration of Governor Namadi Sambo, noting that his 11- point agenda would touch the lives of the ordinary Nigerians and save them from poverty and disease.

KDSG Pledges Cooperation with Town Planners
Governor Namadi Sambo of Kaduna state has assured of the state government's readiness and willingness to work with town planners to achieve the desired objectives of well planned and sustainable urban environment. Sambo gave the assurance during the 2008 National Conference of Directors and Heads of Town Planning Organizations in Nigeria, with the theme" the implications of National Housing Survey for Physical Planning and Development in Nigeria" at Crystal Garden Hotel, Kaduna.

Represented by his Deputy, Mr. Patrick IBrahim Yakowa said that the choice of Kaduna as the host of the conference is commendable because is in line with the noble objectives of the state's 11-point agenda and therefore considers all other related field like town planning as partners in progress.

"The vision of our administration is to continue to develop well organised cities, towns and where distortion exists, we do the best we can in rectifying the situation through professionals who are essentially town planners because their services are not only necessary but vital for us to achieve organized expansion" he said. However, Governor Sambo further assured that participants will find the state as a worthy host because of its position to ensure peace and tranquility and its history as the headquarters of the Northern Region which attract people from all walks of life.
